Technology
A new central infotainment system makes the Volkswagen Tiguan more advanced. While there is an 8-inch floating infotainment touchscreen within the VW Taos, the VW Tiguan features a 12.9-inch display with an exclusive Driving Experience Dial. Each Taos configuration includes VW Digital Cockpit, but the Volkswagen Tiguan provides the upgraded 10.25-inch VW Digital Cockpit Pro. Wireless charging and Wireless App-Connect® smartphone integration are offered by both Volkswagen SUVs.
Safety
The Volkswagen Tiguan has added four new airbags for a total of 10, compared to the six within the VW Taos. Each Volkswagen SUV comes with the IQ.DRIVE® suite of driver assistance features to enhance safety. Shared safety features for the Volkswagen Taos and Volkswagen Tiguan include Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist, Travel Assist, Active Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, Front Assist, and Emergency Assist.
Performance
Both new Volkswagen SUVs benefit from a power boost. The new Volkswagen Taos gets a 19-horsepower jump, while the Volkswagen Tiguan increases its output by 17 horsepower. New Volkswagen Tiguan SUVs work with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated for 201 horsepower, while the new Volkswagen Taos churns out 177 horsepower through a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Both Volkswagen SUVs offer 4MOTION® all-wheel drive. For superior fuel economy, choose the new VW Taos, which earns 28/36 (city/highway) miles per gallon. Although final EPA ratings are pending, Volkswagen says the Tiguan will benefit from improved fuel economy, as previous models earned 22/29 miles per gallon.
